Procedure Introduction

Preparation of Relevant Documents &
Report to the Ministry of Economic Affairs

Please provide:

Application form (If represented by an accountant or lawyer, a power of attorney should be attached separately).
Chinese name of the Representative office
Company seals(can be commissioned for engraving).
Approval letters from other authorities (If required by the relevant competent authority, a copy of the approval document should be attached; otherwise, it is not necessary).
Copy of the legal entity qualification certificate (Issued by the competent authority for company registration at the company's location, accompanied by a Chinese translation)
Copy of the articles of incorporation of the parent company (Not necessarily required for foreign companies)
power of attorney for the representative in the territory of R.O.C. (the competent authority may request notarization or certification when it is necessary.)
Copy of the identification document of the representative in the territory of the R.O.C.
Copy of the consent letter from the property owner and proof of ownership.
Two copies of Application for Registration (Change) of Foreign Company Representative office
Work plan for the representative office in Taiwan
Registration fee of NTD $1,000.

Representative Office Establishment

If the representative is:

A Taiwanese citizen > Please provide a copy of the identification document.
An overseas compatriot > The proof of their residence can be one of the following:
- Copy of the Alien Resident Certificate.
- Copy of the passport (with address and signature or seal).
- Proof of residence issued by their home country's government.
- A declaration issued by the individual (including name, nationality, and address) , and authenticated by a court in Taiwan.
A Hong Kong or Macau resident > The proof of their residence can refer to the following sheet:

National Taxation Bureau Registration (Withholding Tax)

Please provide:

Registration form from the competent authority.
Company seals
Copy of the identification document of the responsible person (passport or residence permit).
Power of attorney for the agent and original identification document of the agent (not required if there is no agent).
Lease agreement, consent letter from the property owner, property tax bill and Land Ownership Certificate.

Applying for Work Permit
(if applying for Residence Permit is needed)

Foreign Individual Qualification: Representative of a representative office established with the permission of the central competent authority for specific businesses.

Employer Qualification (Office): Representative of a foreign company's representative office established with the permission of the central competent authority for specific businesses and with work experience. *No work experience required if the establishment is less than 1 year.

Please provide:

Original receipt of examination fee.
Application form.
List of employed foreign individuals.
Copy of the passport or Alien Resident Certificate of employed foreign individuals.
Copy of employment contract.
Copy of identification document (ID card, passport, or Alien Resident Certificate) of the responsible person.
Proof of registration or business registration certificate.
Copy of the approval letter for overseas Chinese and foreign investment enterprises issued by the competent authority.
Copy of proof of capital or revenue.
Copy of company registration or change registration form (with manager position noted).

Applying for Visa to Taiwan
(if applying for Residence Permit is needed)

Original and copy of the permit letter issued by the Ministry of Labor (Work Permit).
Original and copy of passport.
Application form.
Two passport-size color photos.
One form of personal identification (Example: for Japanese, it could be the resident card, driver's license, health insurance card, My Number card, etc. Each country has different regulations).

Applying for Residence Permit(if applying for Residence Permit is needed)

Work Permit (valid for at least six months).
Proof of current employment (issued within the past month).
Passport and entry visa (original and photocopy for verification).
Application form.
Proof of current residence (such as lease agreement, letter of consent from the landlord, and property ownership certificate).
Relevant supporting documents for the purpose of application (original and photocopy for verification).
One passport-size color photo.

Extension of Representative Office Work Permit

Please provide:
Original receipt of examination fee (NTD $500).
Application form.
List of employed foreign individuals.
Photocopy of the passport or Alien Resident Certificate of the employed foreign individuals.
Photocopy or duplicate of the employment contract.
Proof of capital or revenue(work performance records is required).
Photocopy of the original employment permit letter.
Identification documents of the responsible person.
Company registration or institution establishment registration certificate.
Salary withholding statements (including income tax withholding).
Declaration of the total working hours of employed foreign individuals for the most recent year.
